Live action or Voice over

Howdy y'all, been a while (too much turkey).

So I was watching a documentary on some animated movie one day and the question came to me.  When it comes to making animated movies, would you rather choose an actor that knows how to do live action or have a voice over artist.

Most people think that a certain actor would be great for a certain character, but what I was thinking was Live action artists are good with showing emotion with their actions but not voice.

For example, Bruce Willis, awesome in Die Hard, but awful in Over the Hedge as that raccoon.  He didn't have that spark in his voice.

Same way for voice actors, not too good with live acting.

If you got an example, of some good live actors doing voice overs, send them in.

hm, never thought about this. i do think that if you're going for high box office sales then a well-established actor/actress is the way to go. however, if it's an issue of talent and quality i'm going to vote for a professional voice artist. fo sho.

I think Whoopi Goldberg did good in the Lion King as one of the hyenas....

And Queen Latifah did good in Ice Age 2 as the girl mammoth.

I don't really know any voice actors that have acted has live actors... I don't think they would do a good job at it though.
